I love the sport of wrestling. I started when I was in 7th grade, and had a degree of success that was probably based as much on weak opponents as anything I was doing well. As I moved to the Varsity level, my strength was an asset but I didn't spend enough time on the mat honing my technique out of season.
I began my coaching career as an assistant to Pete Shaifer at St. Christopher's School in Richmond, VA. I learned more from Pete than I could ever hope to express, including a great deal of high level positioning and technique. Shaif not only helped me know more, he helped me understand effective methods of teaching, so that the athletes would know more - after all, they're the ones competing!
